Summer holiday fun with the family
The summer holidays are full of opportunities for some family fun. We scouted around and found some free activities to help keep everyone entertained.
Get cultural
The Art Gallery of South Australia is free to visit. Explore the maze of rooms and enjoy connecting with your family about what you see and feel. The Studio at the gallery also provides a fun and hands on creative experience for children. (It’s also an excellent way to get your steps up!)
And why not check out other free entry galleries, such as Samstag Art Museum and the Jam Factory? Or for a completely out of this world experience, head to the Space Discovery Centre.
Hit up some history
Museums are one way for all members of the family to spend time learning together about the world that’s also varied and interesting. Learning and education are great for developing confidence and experience.
Head to SA Museum for an expansive experience (make sure you check out the giant squid across all levels!). Other museums with free entry include the Migration Museum and MOD.
Nature play all the way
Summer is fantastic for heading out and exploring the natural environment, which brings a wealth of wellbeing benefits. Take a look at Nature Play’s ‘25 things to do in summer’ and see how many you can cross off the list!
Home is where the heart (and fun) is
Quality connection time with the family doesn’t always have to be an adventure out of the house. There are plenty of ways to make your own fun. Set up or make a tent in the backyard, play hide and seek or set up an obstacle course, or get creative in the kitchen. If you get messy, you can clean off in the backyard with a water fight!
